Description
Vehicle Description Built 1937 and launched 1938, Baruna was a winner out of the blocks.Captained by Olin Stevens , first in all classes 1938 Newport / Bermuda, first to finish 1946 and again first in class 1948, Baruna established the Maxi boat class and has been considered the greatest Yawl in the history of yachting. Long considered the fastest and most beautiful S & S Yawl in history, The Bar in Barient winches is Baruna. She was the test boat for Barient and Queen of San Francisco bay in the 60s. She is considered the greatest racer to ever sail the bay. Baruna has name recognition and legendary status among the greatest yachts ever to have sailed the seas. This is the stand out yacht in any harbor with a level of timeless class and elegance never to be duplicated. Baruna is American yachting history at its best. Barunas standing and running gear is all prototype Barient never to be duplicated, Completely retrofitted over 20 years to incorporate the original fashion and fittments, the best of everything has been incorporated in her retrofit by her Master who is a Marine Surveyor/ fabricator and has logged over 20,000 miles on her perfect epoxy bottom, and is available to answer any questions and instruct if needed by her next Captain / Owner. Constructed of double planked Honduran Mohogony, extensive use of Ebony, Zebra, Snake, Teakwoods, and custom fabricated exotic 316L Stainless Steel in way of all fittments including all tankage with oversize wall thickness, 1000lb Stainless Bowsprite incorporating Stainless Steel 66# and 88# anchors on 460' of 1/2" chain, drawn by 60fpm Stainless encased vertical windlass. Recent retrofit in way of main engine, engine room sisters, auxillary systems, fresh bottom that looks better than a new plastic boat, one of a kind salon, when installing a new tranducer. It took two days to drill the hole and burned out multiple bits, the installer remarked ( thats the toughest hull I have ever seen in my 30 years of being a Shipwright) . Baruna is ready to go anywhere and with her original 100+ ft mainmast. When she gets there everyone knows or wants to know what amazing yacht has entered the anchorage and comes to look. The standard comment is "Thats the most beautiful boat I have ever seen". Baruna is very fast, easy to sail, and has the power that is like a locomotive but with the ease of handling that has to be experienced to be believed
