Description
You are bidding on a Certified United States Patent on a Weighted Fishing Leader Drag Apparatus. This is used for trolling any type of sport fish. It aids in hooking the fish by way of creating drag in the water from the weight to the hook when the fish grabs the hook. Drag operates when apparatus is pulled in a backward motion and sets the hook. When the leader is under troll the wings of the leader are closed and therefore create no drag in the water and acts as any other weight would. When struck and pulled, the wings expand in an outward motion which creates instant drag setting the hook. No matter which way the fish swims, the wings are engaged. When reeling the fish in, the forward motion shuts the wings and allows for normal reeling without excess line pressure. There is currently a rough prototype in my hands at this time. If you would like pictures of the product, please contact me through ebay and i will get back to you ASAP. I am selling this for my father as he does not have a computer. If there are any questions please feel free to contact me. Call for options in buying the patent or selling for lower price with option of royalties on product sold. You can contact us by fax at 610-268-2211 and we would be glad to fax you the patent information. Thanks for looking! This is a quote from the booklet that was received with the patent: "Mr. Leone developed the 'Leader Drag Apparatus' through his personal experience as a fisherman. He was searching for a means of automatically adding tension to a fishing line when a fish struck an anglers bait. He theorized that a sinker or weight could be developed with a series of hinged panels or blades incorporated into its top perimeter. These blades would feature slightly curved bottom ends, which would cause them to lift or extend when the unit was pulled through water away from the fisherman. Once the blades were extended, they would provide additional resistance against the fish that was pulling on an anglers bait. This would help set the hook within the fish's mouth, therebly increasing the angler's chances of snaring the creature. When the hook was set and the angler began reeling the fish to shore, the blades would retract and rest flush against the sides of the unit for smooth action. Ultimately, such a sinker would provide a more inventive and performance-enhancing alternative to conventional sinkers and weights. Thus, the 'leader drag apparatus' was born."
