Description
Up for auction is this mid 1960's Vintage Hap Jacobs longboard surfboard with a T band redwood stringer and tail block. The board has not been ridden since I purchased five years ago.Has several open dings here and there with the usual tanning for a board of this age. There is some delam running along the stringer towards nose.If you look at the picture of the bottom of the board , towards nose where the fiberglass is lighter is where its located. The prior owner did an amateur job on the nose repair and needs to be redone. Not a big deal but wanted to mention it. The board measurements are as follows. Nose: 15" Rails: 2 1/2 " Width :approx 21" Tail :13 1/2 " There is no twisting -board is straight. There is some old water stains on the blank .I don't think Hap kept quite as good records on all boards like Bing Copeland did on all his boards that were shaped under the Bing label. It is my belief the seriel number is under one of the registration stickers. This could be cleaned up and make a nice wall hanger or a classic board to hang out the back of your woody as is . As you well know these old Hap Jacobs, Bing, Gordie,Greek, Con,Nolls, Wardy and Gordie boards are getting harder and harder to find in original condition. This is about as original as it gets.Put some time and TLC and this will make a really a classic example of what they were riding in Redondo and Hermosa beach area in the mid 1960's. http://www.hapjacobssurf.com/index.html Has three consecutive years of Newport Beach registration permit stickers on the bottom of the board- from back in the day when Newport Beach charged a fee to put your board in the water like a vessel. It was just another way for the city to generate revenue.I believe it was abolished in the 1970's.Newport Beach reg. tags read: 1967,1968,1969.Definitely adds to the nostalgia of this board. This board has been a local Newport Beach board all it's life.Has a killer laminated multi wood fin.More pics available upon request.I encourage and welcome anyone that is interested in this classic longboard, to contact me and come take a look at this Jacobs. Prefer not to ship this board.Auction to be paid within five days of close. No Pay Pal.No zero feedback bidders. Thanks for your interest.
