Description
99 cent, no reserve auction! You are bidding on a vintage 1951 Kodiak Static Recurve Longbow 62.75", 53# pull weight, serial: K-4-2996 You are bidding on an excellent condition 1951 Kodiak Static Recurve Longbow and felt case. It would be a great bow to be hung and admired or, it is 100% functional if you choose to use. It is 62.75" long, when the bow is not strung, tip-to-tip. It has a 53 pound pull weight. It is has a hand written serial number: K-4-2996 It includes two total strings It also includes the original felt case. The only marks (other than the slight normal sign's of it's age, which can be seen in the photos below) is the original owner wrote his nickname "Brownie" and initials "M.S.B." on 1 side of the leather grip. It is on the opposite side of the serial number...so if the bow is to be displayed, it would never be seen. The original felt case shows it's age...but I feel I have taken very accurate photos. Please note: I can not guarantee the date to be correct. Please read on the right how I (very accurately) arrived at this date. I am also selling the quiver, arrows, and an arm-guard from the same era/owner. If you win both, I will combine shipping to save you money. I have taken as good of photos as I can, and have disclosed all the information I can possibly find on this item. But, it is a used item, so you are the ultimate judge of it's condition and is sold as-is. I used EZADO.com's VERY helpful article "How To Date Your Fred Bear Bow" (Thank you ezado) to come up with the following to track down the date of 1951. From the info below, and the fact the original owner (there has been only 1) bought this bow near the end of 1951, I am confident, but I CAN NOT guarantee it is a 1951. Here is my logic to find the date: Looking at the "Kodiak: decal, dates given for different models I must presume this is a Kodiak Static Recurve, which was produced between 1950 and 1953. Decal of small running bear helps to narrow this down. The small running bear was used from 1948 and discontinued in mid-1953 when they started to use a standing bear. Again, this supports a date between 1950 and 1953. The bow does not have a coin medallion of any type, which indicates it was manufactured prior to 1959 when they started using a copper coin. No coins were used prior to 1959. The bow has a leather grip. All Bear bows had a leather grip prior to 1959. Manufacture location is Grayling, Mich. In 1978 they moved all manufacturing to Florida. This is a laminated bow so it was NOT manufactured prior to 1949. Shipping:Via FedEx Ground: $24.99 (insurance included) Win the quiver/arrow also, and I will combine shipping at $32.99 total.
