Description
The is a glove for a specialized collector: Kurimoto Sporting Sporting of Tokyo Model 540 fielder's glove for the right-handed player. The glove is endorsed by Caesar Frash, I believe, but I could not find his name in MLB indexes and I don't have a subscription to Elias Sports Bureau or other sources of Japanese historical players. The webbing on the 9-inch tall glove shows it was probably vintage 1940s; at least that's when that type of webbing was popular among American baseball manufacturers. The company name is at the base of the pocket and difficult to photograph. It is also on the tag on the wrist strap that is in reasonably good condition, save a small tear in the piping about a half-inch wide. A silver button holding the wrist strap in place has the letters "H and K" on it. The wrist strap is green felt-line. Stamping on front of the glove is legible. Lacing appears to be in fine condition and perhaps original. Overall, it's in very good condtion, inside and out. I could find no reference to Kurimoto baseball gloves on the Internet. A friend who subscribes to collector's journals couldn't find a reference, but compared to the gloves of the period in the U.S., this manufacturer definitely knew what he was doing to produce a tough, durable glove that would easily be broken into playing shape and hold its form. My hands are fairly large and fit fairly tightly in the glove. It would fit a small hand very well. This doesn't appear to be a youth glove because of the quality of construction, the signature, the ingredients use and the advanced technology in web design. But then again, that's for bidders to decide. WE WILL SHIP TO JAPAN FOR THE EXACT COST, WHICH WILL BE CALCULATED FOLLOWING THE SALE IF A JAPANESE RESIDENT WINS THE BIDDING. (DO NOT pay the U.S. shipping cost only and expect me to ship it to Japan.) The starting price reflects the rariety of the glove and the condition it is in for its age. SHIPPING: $7.50 by USPS parcel post to U.S. destinations only (lower 48 states only). PAYMENT: Paypal required; Paypal is required of international buyers. RETURN POLICY: Returns are gladly accepted and full repayment, including shipping costs, is made if notice is given within three days of receipt of gloves; we describe our baseball gloves in detail as faithfully as possible. DAMAGED? We are not responsible for damage incurred in shipping. Purchase insurance please! FEEDBACK: We do not leave negative feedback as it serves little or no purpose. PRICING: We attempt to match or beat the price of similar gloves on the Internet (THIS IS A ONE-OF-A-KIND baseball glove, so that doesn't apply in this case). QUESTIONS? WE ARE AVAILABLE! Email us through the eBay system and we will respond promptly.
