Description
Thomas J. Hill has built over 75 of these canoes, and has sold over a thousand sets of plans. This is the design featured in his DVD on glued plywood lapstrake boat construction. In fact, this is the actual boat built by Thomas J. Hill during the production of the DVD. I bought it unfinished and completed the trimming, sanding and finishing. I did this several years ago, shortly before meeting my wife. Once we met, a one man canoe did not fit into our leisure time plans. I carefully stored the boat, which has never been in the water. In a fit of storage cleaning a few weeks ago, I decided to give this lovely little vessel a new home with an owner who will love it as much as I do, but will also get it wet. I freshened up the paint last week, both inside and out. It is finished with several coats of Interlux Brightside Sea Green on the outside and Interlux Brightside Hatteras Off-White on the inside. At just 27 lbs., Charlotte can be cartopped by just about anyone. With her shallow vee bottom and fine entrance and exit, she's very fast and tracks like a freight train. LOA = 11'6" with a 27" beam. She is best powered by a double-ended paddle. Some of the photos show her with a Shaw & Tenney Classic Double Bladed Paddle. The paddle is not included in the boat auction, but is also on auction separately. Here are some links of interest for your consideration: Thomas J. Hill Web Site "Charlotte" Page from TJH web site Shaw & Tenney double blade paddle page Though she is just 27 pounds, her shape and construction are not conducive to shipping. Local pickup is preferred, BUT I realize that this boat appeals to folks near any body of water in the country, coastal or inland. Therefore, I am offering to carefully crate the canoe for truck shipment for $75.00. Freight charges and insurance are your responsibility. I have used the eBay truck service with great success in other auctions. I will plan on using this again, and it will certainly give you a ball park idea of freight charges as you are deciding how to bid. This is a truly unique canoe, that will turn heads wherever you paddle her. Please enjoy her as much in reality as I have in my daydreams.
