Description
I am offering a magnificent, all original, hand forged in Scotland, Tom Stewart, hickory shafted 8 Iron that also bears the most elusive of all Stewart stampings, FO/RTJ. Please view the pictures for a nice shot of the back and front of this great club. This item is 36" long and the shaft is both very tight to the head and also dead straight. It appears to be very playable as well but it is not being sold as such. You must make that determination yourself. The grip is in fabulous condition, and is leather with really nice tight whipping at the top and bottom and if not the original is certainly an older, very well done replacement. The club has the stamp of "W.YEOMAN, CHICAGO" and also the original owners initials of G.T. The shaft is also clearly and nicely stamped "W YEOMAN, CHICAGO". I do not feel like this club has had much use or if so was supremely cared for. This is truly a special FO/RTJ club and I doubt that you could find a much better example of this golf club anyplace. I have not attempted to clean this item up like some recent Stewart's that were auctioned off as I do not like to do this and prefer the original look of a true antique golf club. As you collectors and hickory players already know Tom Stewart was a cleek maker of some renown and made some of the best and most solid hand forged clubheads of his era. The FO/RTJ stamps stand for both "Francis Ouimet and 'Robert Tyre Jones' (Bobby Jones) and were not used very often thus explaining their scarcity. I feel as if this is the most scarce and desireable of all Stewart stamped clubs and worthy of anyones collection. Good Luck. Please see my other auctions as I have offered a very nice array of both scarce and highly collectible golf clubs. Please email with any questions or any requests for additional pictures (along with your email address) prior to the auctions ending. If this is done the last day I can not guarantee that I'll be available to help you but will try very hard to do so. I will ship via United States Postal Service and estimate the shipping for one item will run $15.00 within the United States (with delivery confirmation) and obviously much more for out of the country addresses. You must contact me ahead of time if you are from any area not in the United States so we can be on the same page regarding shipping costs. I expect payment within seven days of auctions end unless previous arrangements have been made. I will ship as soon as possible if you use paypal or a money order and will wait until a personal check clears prior to shipping should that be your desired method of payment.
