Roomy; shallow V, with more volume in the bow. New style P&H Kayak. Flatter keel, shallow V hull, hard edge with a soft chine. More even volume distribution throughout the hull. A boat that a larger paddler can grow with as their skill progress. The large person's sea kayak. Hybrid between a day use and expedition kayak. The 173 tracks well and is very predictable in all conditions. Similar Kayaks: Impex Assateague, Necky Tesla. User Input: The “V? hull makes for an initially squirrelly feel, but this passes quickly. The deck is a bit high for my taste, but this should be a good boat for a larger paddler. Like all of these new Necky boats, it edges well and is quite maneuverable.
