If prefer PayPal method of payment, payment will be due 3 days from completion date of commitment. This work is easily the most comprehensive book ever published on the shots, moves, and strategies of the one-pocket game for it illustrates hundreds of moves needed for both intermediate and professional levels. Many photos and illust., 328 total pages, Apr 1996. Description of This SMS: This hard-to-find out-of-print, 3lb, 8.5x11 format, hardcover, one-pocket book has a great many photos and is in mint condition. As per 1996 billiard magazine reviews; as with WINNING ONE-POCKET (W1P), the first book of the set, this SMS book may be the ‘’finest billiard instructional book ever’’. The SMS book continues on from where the W1P left off. Author, book designer, and publisher, Eddie Robin, as with W1P, created this SMS book with the help of six co-authors; all six have won multiple national and/or world titles. Six SMS Co-Authors: Marshall "Squirrel" Carpenter, Steve "Monster" Cook, Shannon "Cannon" Daulton, Jimmy "Flash" Fusco, Billy "Mustache" Incardona, and Larry "Boston Shorty" Johnson. The Books; re History & Purpose: My instructional books have been on specific billiard disciplines and so are intended for above-average players as are the games of one-pocket or three-cushion billiards for example. Lower-level pool and carom players are advised to first well learn fundamentals and then first attain expertise at either 14.1 (straight-pool) or simple caroms (straight-rail billiards). I do intend to eventually publish books on those subjects as well as on the most basic of billiard fundamentals. These one-pocket books are, however, an absolute must for the more accomplished players; if skeptical, just ask anyone who actually owns a copy. This first and only edition of the SMS book and the second of the two editions of W1P were both done in 1996. This SMS book currently up for auction is the second of the originally planned three-book set on one-pocket. It was intended for knowledgeable and even pro-level players who have well learned one-pocket basics from the first book. The SMS would most likely be valued at least equal to even the highly prized W1Ps had it been the one to go out-of-print first. (It is still intended that the third of the one-pocket set, which had been near completion since the late 1990s, will eventually be published.) Condition of Robin’s Books: These SMS books are all in perfectly new condition and have not previously been sold, used, read, or even opened until recent embossing of its end-leaf page and checked to ensure its condition as described in preparation for this auction. Though in otherwise absolutely perfect condition, those W1Ps described later described as “imperfects” had arrived from bindery with but one or two tiny flaws in covering material that often go unnoticed. Such excellent condition W1P books are near impossible to find anymore. Why W1P Was Priced Higher: Whereas W1P lays the foundation, the SMS book focuses completely on strategies for the advanced player. Most assume the W1P book as being superior to the SMS mostly because of its higher cost and partially because of how the SMS, rather than repeating explanations found in W1P, assumes reader has already learned from that earlier book. Actually, approximately the same number of each were manufactured, sold, and/or auctioned off. Market value of W1P increased faster simply because it became scarce two years earlier. In effort to prevent their cost from continually increasing to ridiculous prices for non-vintage instructional books, I've auctioned these books at lower starting prices upon noticing others auctioning less-than-perfect or much used, worn, or damaged books for as much as $300, $500, and even higher. Free S&H for Additional Books: No extra charge for additional Priority-Mail shipping or insurance costs for winning bidder wanting an additional SMS book for a friend.  All out of the  Position Play in 3-Cushion books (P3Cs) for years and stopped auctioning W1Ps months ago, but still have quantity of the SMS’s first and only edition remaining from when last publishing/distributing books back in 1997. Return Policy: Please bring attention of postal employee to any package that arrives damaged to facilitate ensuing insurance payment. Though no such request has previously been made, if not fully satisfied with any of Robin’s auctioned books, simply return the book(s) in condition received within 7 days (as per postmark) for full return of your winning bid -- no questions asked! About the Author: Eddie Robin, was a rapidly improving young player upon quitting pool to study and train for casino industry back in 1965; though having never entered tournaments except those for 3-cushion billiards, his best games were actually 14.1, 9-ball, one-pocket, and 3-cushion in that sequence. In 1969, now an accomplished craps dealer at the Las Vegas Sahara Hotel, he’d taken up the cue once again upon learning that the Sahara was to host the USA’s first truly International 3-Cushion event to determine a 1970 World Champion; a round-robin format of 60-point games. As one of only two North-American players having managed to qualify in his first year of tournament play, Eddie was then recognized as an accomplished player upon his win over defending world champion and all-time great, Raymond Ceulemans. As per the May National Billiard News article re that event, rather than for his previously very high level of play when at pool in 1965, Eddie was now considered a three-cushion player. Despite a relatively few years of experience and just a few months at national-level play, Robin's vast knowledge of the various pool and billiard disciplines is without question as his wins and writings certainly bear out. Having hung up his cue while still rapidly improving and well before reaching his peak at either pool or billiards, Eddie became well known upon his publishing of the finest instructional books on our sport; finest because of their effect as well as from consensus of opinion! Never has the averages of 3-cushion players increased as rapidly as they did soon after his publication of P3C (2-inch slates and fast tables had been around in many parts of the world for many years). Take the W1P book; whereas the one-pocket game was rated between zero and 2% in popularity polls in billiard magazines of the late ‘80s and nearing extinction with each passing year, despite several years of one-pocket tournaments to promote the game, it was found well on its way to its current status soon after publication of W1P's first edition and fully on its way but two months after publication of the SMS book. The 1980s polls tell it how it really happened. Inscription If Requested: In addition to the gold-foil stamping seen on scan for this auction, book(s) will arrive with signature of author and publisher, Eddie Robin, in silver metallic ink on front cover as well. If requested with or previous to payment, he’ll be pleased to also add inside the front cover a signed and dated comment, short note of congratulations, well wishes, happy birthday, suggestions, or advice at no extra charge. Complimentary Evaluation Session: Winner of this auction is offered a complimentary evaluation session at the table or phone. This free eval may be had long-distance or by phone if first receive a 3-minute video of student shooting 9 shots as per Eddie's directions; if interested, winner of auction should email er89121@aol.com and request these instructions. Terms and Shipping: PayPal payment required within 3 days from end of auction. All shipping will be by way of the United States Postal Service (USPS) and will be USPS 3-day Priority-Mail.
