'NEMO 200' A RELIABLE , LOW COST, VIDEO CAMERA HOUSING Dear eBay buyer, The NEMO 200 is my third underwater video camera housing design. and is the best one I have made so far. This new design is low cost, low maintenance, very durable, and gets the job done. It is large enough to enable many different video cameras to fit inside. With this housing and nearly any old camcorder you have lying around you can now record all of your dive and boating adventures and share them forever with your family and friends. Here are some reasons I am excited about this housing. This low cost housing will allow you to use nearly any small to medium size camcorder to capture the fun and excitement of your next dive trip on video. If you have a VHS-C, or 8mm, or Hi-8mm video camera made in the last ten years it will most likely fit this housing. Underwater Video is becoming a lot more popular than underwater still photography. Here's one reason why. A regular underwater still camera will only take 36 exposures on expensive to develop film. A digital still camera will take a few more more photos but will cost you a small fortune after you buy the camera and housing. However, if you shoot underwater video with this housing you can use any computer with video editing programs to simply capture a still photo from your underwater video. Your video camera will record 20 shots per second. That means a half hour of diving with the' NEMO 200' you will have potentially over 36,000 photos to choose from! Just about everyone has an old camcorder laying around the house or gathering dust in the closet. Now you can put that camcorder back to good use with this low cost housing on your next dive. Having your own personal underwater video camera housing will truly increase the fun you get from diving and allow you and your family to relive your diving experiences on tape forever! The NEMO 200 is a smart buy. It is well made from quality marine grade plastics, stainless steel, aluminum, Buna rubber o-ring and acrylic lens. The housing is rated to 120 feet. Currently, the retail price in dive shops and dive resorts for similar housings is $275-$350. . The following are the interior dimensions so you can verify that the camera you have will fit. Nearly any small to medium 8mm, Hi8mm, VHS_C or SVHS_C camera made in the last 10 years will fit. Naturally, the housing will take many of the smaller digital video cameras now available too. The inside dimensions in inches are:: A Interior width or diameter 5 & 3/4" B Interior Height from camera mounting plate to inside top 5" C Interior Length is usually 10&1/4" plus or minus a half inch. The length varies due to production method used, if you need an exact and precise length let me know and I can arrange that for you. MATERIAL SPECIFICATIONS The front and rear acrylic lens is 3/8" thick The UPVC plastic housing wall is 7/16 inches thick. The top and side arms are half inch thick special High Density marine Grade plastic with UV inhibitors added. This material will not rust, corrode, rot, warp, mold or delaminate or peel, crack or blister and It is specially made for the marine environment. Metal spring latches and all exterior screws, bolts and nuts are stainless steel. Aluminum angle attaching the side arms to the top with stainless bolts and nuts is 1/8 inch thick Lens cradle is made from a very strong and thick cast poly resin Ballast tubes are simple but sturdy 1 &1 /4 PVC There are no exterior buttons, levers or controls to break or go bad.If your camera has a remote control, as many camcorders have, then you simply insert your camera and close the housing and use your remote to start the camera filming right before the dive and it will continue to record throughout your dive capturing everything you see. If you don't have a remote you can start your camera recording before it is locked in place inside the housing. The Housing comes with a 6 month warranty covering all parts and labor. Shipping on this item is based on your zip code and I only charge the exact USPS shipping charge, I do not add any handling fee to this item. 'NEMO 200' Video Camera Housing Advantages 1. Quality, Durable Materials made to withstand the marine environment. 2. The Housing can use many models of Camcorders except large VHS cameras. 2.Quick shipping, no handling charges. 3. Six month warranty and limited time refund policy for USA buyers, See Frequently asked question section for more refund or warranty details. 4. Simple to use. 5. Best depth rating for price. 6. Reliable. Fewer parts and controls to leak or malfunction. 7.Video can take 1000 times more film than still cameras.20 frames of video per second for a 1/2 hour dive trip equals 36000 shots. A still camera can only take 36 shots in that same half hour. Video will capture the sound of your trip too. 8. Low price. 9. Your accessories and lights can mount easily on the top. 10. Made in USA. Parts are available and any out of warranty repair is inexpensive. I have been selling on ebay since 1998 with over 6000 positive feedbacks! If you have any questions before bidding please email me. cdbob@bellsouth.net Note: No lead weights or ballast is included nor is the camcorder shown in these photos included in the auction Frequently asked questions Not all of these questions have been asked before regarding this item , but I have had similar questions asked about other items I have sold on eBay before in the last 5 years so I thought I would would save us some time.Any question you have you don't see anwered in my ad please email me before bidding and I will be happy to answer. I answer all emails. if you don't hear from me I haven't heard from you. Questions How deep will the housing go? Do you give refunds ? Do you ship overseas? How much is my shipping and when will I get my housing. How can I pay you? Will my camera fit? Where are the controls? Do you have spare parts? Where is the unit made? Do you sell these wholesale? Is this easy to use? How do I attach my camera? How do I see what I am filming? Can you build different sizes? Answers to Questions How deep will the housing go? This model is rated to 120 feet. Earlier versions of the Nemo 200 had a 75 foot depth rating. Improvements were made to widen the O ring groove on this version which makes it much harder for users to place the o ring improperly. Note: When the depth rating was 75 feet many users took the housing far past the specified depth rating. Please do not feel you can do the same with the new depth rating. Do you give refunds ? Yes and no. Let me explain. I used to sell underwater cameras and offered a 30 day guarantee as I do with the other items I sell online but found out a small percentage of my diving customers were ripping me off. They would use the camera on their dive trip and send it back to me for a refund after the trip. I no longer offer such a lengthy refund time period for dive camera items. However, if you are in the USA I do offer a 48 hour refund. There is no refund option for overseas buyers., however all buyers are still covered for parts and labor under the warranty no matter where they are.. Here’s the deal. If you are in the USA I will be sending the housing with delivery confirmation so I know exactly what day the housing was delivered to you. If you are in the USA and receive the housing and find it is not what you thought you were buying or your camera won’t fit then you can return the housing in new, undamaged and unused condition to the post office within 2 days from the day the post office delivery confirmation system says they delivered to you. Obviously, the two days is excluding Sundays and days the post office is not open. Please ship the housing back to me unused, insured and with delivery confirmation. If you returned the housing unused, in new condition and within the 2 day time I requested I will be happy to refund you your purchase price upon receiving the item. If you mail it to me used, damaged, and/or after more than two days have elapsed from the delivery date stated by the post office you will not get any refund. No exceptions. Does the NEMO 200 have a Warranty Yes, a six month warranty with free parts and labor. If you use the housing and there is any problem with the operation of the housing or it breaks during normal underwater use I have a 6 months warranty .Please email me before sending the item back, I may be able to solve the problem without you returning it. If the housing breaks or does not work properly and if I find the problem is caused by faulty material or workmanship while used as intended I will fix or replace the housing for free. A complete warranty form is included with the housing and can be sent to you by email before buying the housing should you need to see one.I do not pay for shipping to me for warranty repairs but if the item is repaired under warranty I do pay for return shipping. In the unlikely event the housing is delivered by the Post office broken during shipping with a damaged shipping container please return the item with the damaged box to your postal office to file a refund as the item will have been sent insured.I do not refund broke items broken during shipping . I insure with the post office, if the item broke while they had it you you have to file a claim with them as they broke it. Do you ship overseas? Yes I do ship outside the USA, but I only ship via USPS Global Express as this option allows for tracking the shipment. Your shipping cost will be what USPS charges to send an 13 pound package from the USA to your country using the USPS Global Express shipping option. The shipping prices are available to you at www.usps.com. I do not have any refund policy for overseas buyers and do not pay postage on any housing sent back for repairs, however if the repair is due to faulty workmanship or materials and the housing is still under warranty I will be happy to pay for postage to return the repaired item to you. How much is my shipping and when will I get my housing? USA BUYERS If you are in the USA your two shipping options and cost are decided by you, they are :Shipping an 13 pound package by USPS priority Mail with delivery confirmation and insurance, or Parcel Post with delivery confirmation and insurance. Your shipping price to your zip code can be found at USPS.com I do not charge you handling cost, only what the USPS charges me to send you the 13 pound package. I e-mail you when I receive your payment and when I ship. I include the track number when I e-mail you to confirm shipping. Your expected delivery time will be noted on the USPS web site. I only ship by USPS. I do not ship overnight or second day shipping. No Exceptions NON USA BUYERS If you are not in the USA your shipping options is only USPS Global Express which will allow the shipment to be tracked. Your delivery time can vary a lot depending on the time of year and the customs Service involved. For instance, I have had deliveries take three days to Canada and also 4 weeks. I have had some Europe deliveries take 3 days and some take 6 weeks!!! I do not charge you a handling cost, I only charge what the USPS charges me to send you the13 pound package via Global Express Mail. I do not cover loss of items sent via mail. I insure them with USPS. If they are lost or damaged you must file the claim with your post office. I will provide copies of the insurance forms I receive when sending the item upon request,. How can I pay you? In the USA, I take paypal, or money orders. If you are outside the USA I take Paypal. Paypal payments are to me at cdbob@bellsouth.net Will my camera fit inside the housing? Your camera will fit if it is smaller than the dimensions I give in the ad. If you look closely there is a camera mounting board or plate across the bottom of the housing that slides in and out and is used to attach your camera to it and keep it level. If you need more room the plate can be removed and you can perhaps place your camera in the housing without the plate but then you will need to stuff foam or padding around your camera to secure it. If you have a hard time figuring out what are the dimensions of your camera you can draw the dimensions of the housing on a piece of paper and cut out the interior dimensions and then see if your video camera will slide through the hole in the paper you cut out which represents the interior dimension of the housing, Where are the controls? There are no controls. I kept the housing as simple as possible. I turn my camera on Record and then put it on Pause then slide the videocamera in my housing and close the housing,. When I am ready to dive, just before I go in the water I turn the camera to Record with my remote control and make sure my red record light comes on. If you don’t have a remote control you will have to turn the camera on to Record and insert the camera before diving. A lot of people are concerned at first that they have no access to stop and record buttons and that the camera is constantly recording throughout the dive. I find not having to stop and start the camera to actually be a benefit. I am less likely to miss something if the camera is always on and not having to turn the camera on and off means you never forget to turn it back on. Editing a dive tape from a camera that was left on during the entire dive is quite simple. You will have a lot of boring parts to cut out and the task may seem to be a lot of work when thinking about it, but in actual practice it is quite easy. After capturing my video I attach my video camera to my cheap $79 Cyber Home DVD recorder and let the tape run. When I hit a boring patch on the video I stop the DVD recorder and start it recording again when a good part comes on the videotape. If I was too slow to notice the start of the good part I rewind the tape and start the recorder as the good part of the video comes on the screen. In no time at all I have transferred the best parts of the video to DVD without even having to use my computer. Later on, I can put my DVD into my computer and refine the edit or capture stills from the DVD if I want. Making enjoyable diving videos is very easy and the lack of on and off controls on the housing is no problem at all, You only need to have enough battery power and tape for the length of your dive and practise a bit aiming the camera. Where is the housing made? Same place I was . USA Do you have spare parts? I have plenty of spare parts, O rings and lens, etc. In the unlikely event you break the housing and it is no longer under warranty I can repair it inexpensively for you.The previous NEMO housing models I designed and sold were made mostly overseas and I have no more spare parts for them. This model is made mostly by me and the parts and materials are local so I should always be able to fix or replace the housing or any of its parts for you. Do you sell these wholesale? No, the price is already as low as I can go, although if you are a dive resort or dive shop I knock off a small percent for multiple orders Is this housing easy to use? Yes, the housing is pretty much a no brainer. I do highly recommend you take your new housing to a pool or calm protected swimming area before taking the housing out into the open water. That way you can get used to filming with it, adjust the buoyancy with your ballast to your liking and make sure you can use it and it works OK before going off on a dive vacation. How do I attach my camera inside the housing? The housing comes with a small narrow interior mounting board or plate made from a piece of treated masonite that slides in and out of the housing. Four bent metal disks inside the housing form a track you can slide the camera mounting plate under to secure the plate . I include a small bolt and a hole for the bolt to attach a videocamera using the threaded screw hole that is commonly found on the bottom of all cameras used to mount to a tripod. If your camera is of a different size than mine and your cameras mounting hole is in a different place it is easy to modify the plate. The board is thin on purpose so even if you only have a pocket knife it is simple for you to make another bolt hole that will work for the placement of your camera. How do I see what I am filming? You point and shoot. This takes a little practice, you basically have to aim it with the camera always set at the widest angle setting, however if your camera is quite small you may be able to partially open your monitor and see that way. Some customers have inquired about installing a small LCD monitor in the rear as there is plenty of extra room in the back when used with most of the smaller cameras today. This would be a great idea but I haven’t done it yet myself. Can you build different size housings? I can build different lengths if it is a special order and you have extra time it will take me to get around to it, but right now the widths are limited to exactly what is shown in the specifications. Thanks Timmy! Mar-08-07 14:47 side view of housing Front of housing with camcorder mounted inside (camcorder not included) Housing opened and showing camera mounting plate, lens, O-ring and lens cradle Below are some recent photos of the Nemo 200 taken by a customer, Mr. Caleb Conley. Caleb has added an inexpensive LCD monitor to the interior of his housing and added lights to the top of his Nemo 200. It looks like he did a super job!!. I don't sell the housing with lights or an interior monitor but these photos plainly show what the Nemo200 looks like after they are added by the customer. Good job Caleb!! Note: no camera or lights are included in this auction!! These photos are just to show you what you can do to your Nemo200. If you upload to Youtube.com any videos taken with the Nemo 200 please send me the link. Below is a link one of my customers was nice enough to send of the nemo 200. Thanks Mr. Rollins http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VcpKSoQAb3Y If you would like to see some videos or photos taken by other Nemo customers I have added customer youtube video links and photos to a webpage I put online recently. http://robbmoffett.googlepages.com/nemocustomerphoto&videogallery PS If you have read this far I want to thank you for taking the time to read my ad about my Nemo 200. I went on kind of long about it I guess because I am kind of proud. I personally make the NEMOs one at a time. You aren't buying from some big factory in Mongolia. Remember, If you have any question, please email me. I answer every email personally. I'm not some big company, just a little guy trying to pay the bills selling on eBay. If you are still making up your mind about buying I probably know why, you may be one of those persons like me that rarely buy what they want, you prefer to buy only what you need. Money is tight. You are not sure you need this housing. Sure do want one, but do you really need one? I'm the same way.I'll spend on others first before I buy something nice for myself. But you know, let me tell you something, after every Hurricane, Tornado or major flood, the evening news interviews the survivors and the things those poor bewildered people that just lost their home miss the most is always their personal items, their photographs and videos that can never be replaced, those things that captured their experiences, friendships and loves in their life. Lost forever to the wind 29 cent photos of their Mom and Dad beat out the wet and broken plasma screen TV every single time. Sure, I may be biased, but isn't having a way to record your underwater and boating adventures a lot better use of money than most other stuff we buy?. And don't forget, should you ever get tired of diving in the far distant future you can always sell the housing and get most or all of your money back. Free videos? I wish you a lot of safe and happy diving. Robert Moffett Powered by eBay Turbo Lister The free listing tool. List your items fast and easy and manage your active items.
