The staffs can have crystals and metals from under the earth, wood and leather from life on the earth, and feathers from life above the earth. When natural branches are used, they are branches that have been gathered from open land after having fallen and dried. We do not cut branches from live trees for our staffs. Our naturally gathered branches become reborn with new energy. We make these walking sticks within dedicated sacred space while setting our intention to receive guidance from the spirit world on what combinations of materials and design will have the most beneficial effect. About This Staff ... The headpiece carving for this staff is an eagle head that was hand carved in Bali. We obtained the headpiece carving and then combined it with our hand shaped staff. The main wood is mahogany and makes up the headpiece and the lower part of the staff. The exotic wood section above the handle is a combination of Spalted Maple, Gabon Ebony, and Purpleheart. At the bottom of the staff is another section of exotic woods like the upper section. A core of solid oak runs completely through the exotic woods to add more strength to the joints. The high gloss finish consists of a base of several treatments with hand rubbed teak oil. The oil finish is then covered with several coats of shellac. The staff features a tightly wrapped and unique caramel brown suede leather handle. The handle has been designed to "lace up" like a corset with black satin cord ties. The leather handle can be moved or removed if desired without harming the finish of the staff, simply by loosening the laces. The bottom of the staff has a friction fit rubber tip to protect the end. The rubber tip absorbs the impact and wear from contact with the ground and is easily replaceable. The eagle headpiece wears a black and gray agate crystal donut pendant. The pendant has four cord drops with nickel beads and black duck wingtip feathers. The staff also includes a black diamond pleated soft cotton padded fabric case to protect the staff during storage or transportation. The case has long drawstring ties and the top is long enough that it can be folded over and tied to add more protection at the top.
