You are bidding on my BRAND NEW, never paddled in Feathercraft Big Kahuna Folding Kayak. It is a 2005 model with the newer Duratec (sealskin) hull, polytech (waterproof welded) top deck skin -- and the newer internal cockpit combing. It was purchased in 2006, but was never used (but stored professionally). This boat looks EXACTLY as a new 2008 model would look like if you purchased one today from Feathercraft -- even comes in the original Feathercraft shipping box. Includes all the normal Feathercraft stuff -- waterproof seasock, nylon spray skirt, quality backpack, repair kit, deck lines and bungies, & video/written assembly instructions. With the large stern hatch, this boat normally sells for $3400 + $185 (hatch) or $3,585. But here is a great deal .... They also outperform Kleppers, Folbots, Nautiraids and Long Hauls ... hands down. I've been paddling all of these boats extensively for well over 20 years, and have nothing but great things to say about Feathercrafts, the company and the people who work for them. An added bonus is that they have probably the most comfortable seat of any kayak I've ever paddled (and this one comes with the upgraded expedition seat). Folding boats are also, in my opinion, much safer than hardshell boats because they can handle much rougher water .... since the hull flexes and gives something like a fish in the water. I own and frequently paddle a very smiliar Kahuna (as well as Feathercraft's K-1). However for travelling, I mostly use the Kahuna, since it packs down smaller and weighs 16 pounds less than the K-1. This one does not have the rudder -- which you almost never need since it tracks so well -- althouhg you can order it later; so this saves you another 5 lbs or so. Packing carefully, I've been able to take up to a 12 day camping trip in my Kahuna. I reserve the right to end this auction early, as I'm also selling it locally. I'm a paddler and sometimes guide -- with several other friends and paddling buddies using Feathercrafts and other folders-- so I've sold a number of these over the years (as they become available after some trips). I would want you to be happy with your boat and can walk you through the assembly (by phone) if you like ... or even advise you as to some great overseas and U.S. paddling destinations. I did assembly this boat once to make sure everythings fits right. I also blew up the sponsons to make sure they hold air properly. Everything was absoutely perfect. I see absolutely zero sign of any kind of wear on this boat - even smells new!
