This marathon is dedicated to disabled veterans and raises money for those veterans of the United States Armed Forces with service related disabilities. Proceeds will provide transportation to medical facilities, housing vouchers, vocational rehabilitation and job placement assistance for the sons and daughters of America who’ve been injured protecting our freedom.   It’s no secret, the United States has been at war in the Middle East for quite some time now and more and more of our sons and daughters are returning from the battlefield with physical impairments and disabilities. I intend to make a difference in their lives and for that reason the Hampton Roads Disabled Veterans Assistance Program was established in part to be a source of aid and assistance to these young men and women who’ve made physical sacrifices for our country. The Hampton Roads Disabled Veterans Assistance Program is a non-profit organization which provides financial, educational, employment and housing assistance to service disabled veterans of the United States Armed Forces. Our first major event will be the 2008 Veteran’s Day Marathon which we hope will become the single largest sporting event held in the state of Virginia and raise over $2 million dollars for Disabled Veterans. With both amateur athletes and world class elite runners from across the country competing, this monumental race is expected to attract a target of 15,000 runners and 50,000 spectators. Place a Bid!
