Description
IMPORTANT NOTICE: If you rate a seller 4- out of 5-stars, i.e., accurate description, satisfied with communication, quick shipping, and reasonable S&H charges, eBay will stop that seller from selling on eBay due to having less than 4.1 stars in any category. View the eBay policy. Since eBay's star system is actually pass/fail, with anything under 5 being fail, we really do need you to leave 5-stars in all categories if you hope to see further items from these estates.Shipping: The eBay calculator above automatically includes handling and insurance for the current price of this item, which will be $15.50 plus insurance which starts at $1.70. To double check, use the US Postal Service shipping estimator. This opens in a new window. Enter these values: (large flat-rate Priority Mail package, 5 lbs 14 oz) will display $12.50 ($12.50 + $3 handling = $15.50). DETAILS: These original vintage ski boots are part of a ski set that belonged to my late MIL. She used these in the late 1940s. The set consisted of a pair of wooden skis with bindings, a pair of ski poles, this pair of ski boots and the pair of boot stays. The skis & poles are being sold in a separate auction. The boots are leather. (I don't know the size of these, but my MIL wore a women's size 7½ in regular shoes.) They weigh 2 lbs 12 oz each. The soles measure 11¼" long, 4" wide at the ball, over ½" thick and show little wear. There are two metal clips screwed onto each sole at the ball and toe on both sides, four in all per boot. I'm not sure of the metal. The soles may be newer than the boots, i.e., the boots may have been resoled. There is a metal belt roller on each side of the heel and a leather belt threaded through them that is about ¾" wide and 23" long. The belts are in decent shape. The heels lace up, the laces are in good condition. The tongue is a triple flip-over type providing triple layer coverage under the front laces, one layer of rubber covered by overlapping oppositely sewn leather tongues. The inside back of the heel has a wool section. The sizing of the boots are preserved by a pair of wooden stays which appear to be made of maple or another light-colored hard wood. The square toes are scuffed from use. The fronts lace up using open eyelets, the leather laces are in good condition. The toe cavity is about 1¼", the rise from the heel atop the sole is about 5". The rest of this set is on auction now.
