Insurance is calculated on the winning bid, starting at $1.70. DETAILS: This original vintage ski set belonged to my late MIL. She used these in the late 1940s. The set consists of a pair of wooden skis with bindings, a pair of ski poles, a pair of ski boots and the pair of boot stays. The boots and boot stays are up now on another auction. The skis are 82" long, 3½" wide at the widest point, and about 1" at the mountings. They are made of wood laminate with seven laminates visible across the ski faces. On the sides they look to be at least four laminates thick at the bindings. The bottom bases and edges are painted red. The bases have metal strips running their sides. The heels are very slightly tipped up. The tops of the tips have decals with the words "Brodahl-Ski Norway" on them and they are stamped with the numbers 2.10 and 9012. The decals are worn and that is my best interpretation of what the decals read from looking at both of them. Metal mountings are fixed onto the skis. The mounts have the name "Dovre Kabel" and "Dovre Ski Binding" on them. The skis were used, then stored for several decades. There is a small nick on one top edge decoration laminate. Other than that, they appear to be in excellent condition. They have not been cleaned or restored but are in their original condition as stored some 60 or so years ago. The poles are made of metal, which I believe to be mostly anodized aluminum and steel, and are 35½" in overall length. The main shaft section is deep maroon colored. Onto each pole about 4½" up from the tip is a circular piece about 6½" in diameter affixed with leather strapping. The strapping is in good condition with some checking from age and wear. At the top is a heavy leather handle with hand stitching and a leather strap. The handles are in good shape, the leather straps shows some minor checking.
